The Sanctuary

Thy way, O God, is in the
sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? ~ Ps 77:13 ~
If our answer to this question is that there is none greater than our God, then His way of conducting ourselves as we journey through life is of utmost importance to us. When we begin to discern His will, then His way of doing His will is critical to our continuing
in His will. Who knows how to obtain glory for God in and through our lives better than the Lord God Himself? Our scripture tells us that God’s way is in the sanctuary. Lord, reveal Yourself to us!
When we think about His
sanctuary, we think about His tabernacle or temple. The place God has
designated as His dwelling place among His people. That the Most High God, the
Creator of all, would desire to dwell with us in any capacity is (what are the
greatest words we can think of) magnificent, monumental, wonderful, glorious.
So, by all means, let us consider, inquire and meditate on what God means when
He says, His Way is in the sanctuary.
What about His sanctuary is a holy place?
What about where God dwells shall be a holy place?
Does God have a tangible representation of His sanctuary in today’s world? What
about you are the temple of the Living God (2
Cor 6:16)? What about to be in His sanctuary you must first get through the
gate? What about Jesus Christ is the Gate? Jesus said, I am the door:
by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved (John 10:9a). Believing
on Him, that He shed His life’s blood for the forgiveness of your sins and
salvation in obedience to His Word, gets you through the gate into His
sanctuary. What about that, have you made it through the gate yet? Have you
entered in through the Gate by faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior,
but are yet to approach the first piece of furniture in the Outer Court to
inquire as to why it is even there? What about the sanctuary being divided into
the Outer Court (Jesus is the way, righteousness), the Holy Place (Jesus is the truth,
peace), and
the Most Holy Place (Jesus is the life, joy) reflecting the progressive nature of our approaching God?
What about there is furniture in all three of those dimensions that the Lord
has instituted in order to meet with us in very specific ways and purposes for
our spiritual growth in Christ? GOD said, And thou shalt put the mercy
seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I
shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I
will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two
cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will
give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel (Ex 36:21-22).
(BTW, do not deceive yourself into believing that God is speaking only to a
people on a small plot of land in the middle east). Here, the LORD is speaking
of the furniture within the third dimension, the Most Holy Place, and we have
the furniture of two other dimensions that we need to explore and allow the
Holy Spirit to have His Way in us before we get there!
Brothers and sisters,
only trying to make one point here today. Seeing God explicitly says that HIS
way is in the sanctuary, begs the question: What do we
really know about His sanctuary?
As for me, I can tell
you, not nearly as much as I need to know! Let us all inquire into His Word
concerning the sanctuary so we can find His way through and
that our joy may be full in Christ.
